In The Mountains Moomin mug is Norway's special mug for the year 2021.
When talking about Moomin mugs, Finnish culture and tradition often come to mind, but in 2021, the "Mountains" Moomin mug turned its gaze to Finland's northern neighbor, Norway. This special mug was launched specifically for the Norwegian market, and although it's available from official Moomin online stores, its physical location on store shelves is limited to Norway.
The mug's heartwarming illustration is inspired by two of Tove Jansson's comic strips: "Moomintroll and the Sense of Duty" (1958) and "We Start a New Life" (1956). On one side of the mug, Moomintroll and Snufkin adventure in a mountainous landscape, typical of the vistas in Norway, while on the other side, Moominmamma enjoys a relaxing bath moment.
The core messages of the Moomin tales have always been universal. Themes of loneliness, diversity, and well-being have touched readers around the world. The legacy continues in the "Mountains" mug: Fiskars has committed to donating 10 kroner from each sold "Mountains" Moomin mug to the local operations of Save the Children in Norway during 2021, thus supporting children's rights and promoting equality.
Although this mug is specifically designed for Norway, Moomin fans worldwide can get their own "Mountains" mug from the Finmug online store. Norway's nature and Moominvalley meet in this mug, reminding us of nature's beauty and the power of friendship.
