Moominvalley Park Japan 2 Moomin mug was on sale during 2023–2024.

The mug commonly goes by the name “Japan mug 2”, even though its label reads “Moominvalley Park Japan 2023”. It was released on 10 Feb 2023 and is the second mug in the series. There is no matching plate or bowl, though a small wall plaque was released later. In Japan, the mug came with an original storage box, which you can also get from Finmug when you purchase the labeled version Thailand (Package).

The Moominvalley Park Japan 2 mug was initially launched only in Japan at the Moominvalley Park theme park in Hanno. Later it was sold in Japan’s own Moomin Shop, with delivery only within Japan.

The new mug’s illustration resembles the style of the first “Japan mug” (2019–2022). However, the mug has undergone a partial refresh: there are small changes to the colouring of the lower section, while the upper section is entirely new. The artwork is based on Tove Jansson’s book The Invisible Child and Other Stories (1962). More specifically, images were chosen from the story “The Hemulen Who Loved Silence”. In this tale, the Hemulen works at an amusement park as a ticket inspector. A heavy rainstorm destroys the whole park, whereupon the Hemulen decides to move into solitude in his grandmother’s old garden. The children, however, do not give up; they gather the pieces of the ruined park and rebuild it.

The mug shows many familiar Moominvalley characters running joyfully through an atmospheric amusement-park scene. On the base, in addition to Arabia’s own backstamp, there is a special Moominvalley Park logo.
