Joulumukin tarina liittyy harvinaiseen hetkeen, jolloin muumit heräsivät keskellä talviunta ihmettelemään joulua. Vuonna 2004 Arabia lanseerasi tämän tunnelmallisen joulumukin, jota valmistettiin vain kahden joulun ajan, vuosina 2004 ja 2005. Mukin lämmin ja jouluinen kuvitus on poikkeuksellisen monipuolinen yhdistelmä Tove Janssonin tuotannosta: Muumipeikko mukin etupuolella on peräisin Toven klassikkoromaanista Taikatalvi, ja joulukuusi on lainattu Unicefille suunnitellusta postikortista "Joulun ihme". Kortin taustalla taas on Janssonin vuoden 1962 novelli "Kuusi".

Arabian suunnittelija Tove Slotte on tehnyt runsaasti pieniä muutoksia ja yhdistellyt taitavasti eri alkuperäiskuvituksia. Esimerkiksi mukin Pikku Myy on lainattu Unicefin vuoden 1981 "Rauhanmarssi"-postikortista, ja mukin takaosan Muumimamma alkuperäisesti esiintyi Muumipeikkona Lars ja Tove Janssonin laulukirjassa "Visor från Mumindalen". Slotte vaihtoi hahmon Muumimammaksi sopimaan paremmin kokonaisuuteen.
