Moomin Mug: Christmas Mug is one of Arabia’s most valued and rarest winter seasonal mugs. Although it isn’t an official seasonal release, it’s generally classified as a winter seasonal mug. In the same series you’ll also find a plate later issued in a collector’s plate set, plus vintage wall plates with the same nostalgic artwork. Versions with a “Made in Finland” label are especially rare, sought-after, and valuable. Because these mugs are old, finding a flawless, label-intact piece in “super good” condition is extremely difficult—those are true treasures. Its warm, story-rich atmosphere makes it highly desirable: a perfect choice for anyone seeking a genuinely Christmassy, nostalgic Moomin piece whose value is likely to hold—and keep rising—over time.

In 2004 Arabia launched this atmospheric Christmas mug, produced only for two Christmas seasons (2004 and 2005). The front image of Moomintroll comes from Moominland Midwinter, while the Christmas tree is borrowed from the UNICEF postcard “The Christmas Miracle,” whose background in turn relates to the 1962 short story “The Fir Tree.” Designer Tove Slotte made many small edits and clever combinations of originals. For example, Little My on the mug derives from UNICEF’s 1981 postcard “Peace March,” and the rear image’s Moominmamma originally appeared as Moomintroll in the songbook Songs from Moominvalley; Slotte changed the figure to Moominmamma to suit the composition.
