Winter Forest Moomin mug was the 2012 winter seasonal release, and the same series included a set of four mini mugs. Although the base features Arabia’s classic crown backstamp, the label does not state the country of manufacture. In Finmug’s inspection, Winter Forest rarely reaches Supergood condition, since tiny factory flaws are easy to spot on the light background.
Winter Forest is already relatively valuable thanks to its unique artwork that differs from other winter themes. As seasonal mugs are limited by nature, values typically rise over time—making this a great addition to any Moomin collection and a thoughtful gift for a collector who appreciates the stories behind the mugs.

Arabia designer Tove Slotte combined elements from several Tove Jansson works. The key characters, like Moominpappa and Little My, are drawn from the comics “Moomin and Aunt Jane” and “Moomin and the Comet.” A special detail is the large reindeer, inspired by a letter Tove Jansson wrote for Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1963 to reply to children who had written to Santa Claus—making this mug a charming piece of both Moomin and Finnish history.
