The Stockmann Moomin mug was only on sale in 2012.

In 2012, when Stockmann celebrated its 150th year of existence, the Moomin mug Stockmann took its place among the special products, simultaneously reminding of the Finnish love for both Moomins and the traditional department store. The uniqueness of this mug lies in its illustration: a design taken from gift wrap designed for Stockmann by Tove Jansson in the late 1950s.

When the mugs were originally released for sale, Stockmann's customer service had to roll up their sleeves. The popularity of Moomin mugs had exploded. The initial batch of 25,000 was supposed to suffice for everyone, but the first batch sold out in a flash. In December 2012, responding to demand, Stockmann introduced another batch of mugs for sale, setting a purchase limit of six mugs. However, the mugs disappeared from the shelves very quickly.

What makes this mug so special? Stockmann's 150 Edited Collection anniversary series. This collection consisted of numbered special products, available only from Stockmann. The Stockmann Moomin mug was product number 125 in this series. The mug features Jansson's gift wrap design for Stockmann, from which the Stockmann texts have been stylishly removed, but the original logo still shines in Moominmamma's handbag. The same series also included tea and coffee cans, coasters, trays, and a kitchen towel. Over the years, following this mug, Stockmann has launched a plate, pitcher, and a jar with a lid.

This special mug is not just a coffee cup. It's a piece of history that combines Finnish design, tradition, and the magic of Moomins into a single dish.

We also do a condition check on mugs with label, because often Arabia's 1-quality products have aesthetic factory defects. Finmug is the only online shop where mugs are also checked for factory defects. Just for you.
