Stinky Moomin mug (0.3L) is a collectible mug that was in production in 2001–2021.

The grey Stinky Moomin mug is a valuable collector’s piece that stayed in production for an unusually long time, 2001–2021. It offers a chance to own something special, as it is one of the few Moomin mugs you can find with a crowned year stamp on the base. Particularly valuable are well-kept Stinky mugs with the 2001 stamp or a Made in Finland label. Stinky made newspaper headlines in 2025, which also sent demand for the mug soaring.

Among the original character mugs of the 2000s, the Stinky mug clearly remained in production the longest, even up to 2021. Love has been in production since 1996, though it is not a character mug. Do not miss this collectible rarity.

The artwork comes from Tove and Lars Jansson’s comic #17 Moomin and the Comet and was adapted by Tove Slotte. Stinky is shown carrying bottles, as if he had been stealing, perfectly capturing his true nature. Stinky is a troublesome yet relatable character, which makes this mug a perfect addition to any Moomin mug collection. Stinky is also special because he and the Police Inspector are the only characters on Arabia’s Moomin mugs who appear only in the comics and not in Tove Jansson’s original novels.
