Snorkmaiden and Poet Moomin mug is the 2013 summer seasonal mug and was released together with a matching bowl. Although the label spells out the long name “Snorkmaiden and Poet,” collectors often use the shorter “Poet.” The base carries Arabia’s classic crown backstamp. The country of manufacture is not stated on the label. Because the mug has a light base, Finmug’s strict check easily spots factory flaws (like small black dots), so it doesn’t often reach the top “Supergood” grade.
The mug isn’t especially valuable for its age—perhaps due to a large run or because the artwork isn’t everyone’s favourite. Seasonal mugs typically rise in value over time, so now is a good moment to round out your Moomin collection with this summery, poetic mug.

The colour scheme continues the sunny blue-and-yellow theme from the previous year’s seasonal mug. Arabia designer Tove Slotte chose artwork from Tove and Lars Jansson’s comic Moomin and the Sea, where Snorkmaiden sits dreamily beside the Poet by the shore. In the scene the Poet is reading a book titled “Sea Orchestra,” and the maritime mood makes this a perfect gift for Moomin fans and anyone who loves poetic moments.
