Siesta Moomin mug (0.3L) is the 2009 summer seasonal mug.

From Finmug’s experience, labels on mugs from 2010 or earlier are often worn or creased, so flawless stickers are rare and valued by collectors. That’s why a stickered Supergood Siesta is an especially valuable find. The season label on the Siesta mug does not state the country of manufacture, so it may have been made in Finland or Thailand.

The series also includes a beautiful Siesta bowl that completes this summery set. It’s no surprise the mug is popular with collectors—the illustration and colours make it a perfect companion for sunny days.

Released in 2009, Siesta has become one of the most popular mugs. Its sunny, calming artwork depicts a summer day and a contemplative Moomin on a meadow; the light blue and green palette captures the feel of summer perfectly. Siesta is the fourth in the legendary striped mugs series (2006–2011).

The illustration is based on Tove and Lars Jansson’s comic “Moomin and the Sense of Duty.” Notably, in the original panel Moomintroll is resting at the foot of a tree, but on the Siesta mug the figure was changed to Moominpappa by adding a hat. This tasteful tweak by designer Tove Slotte has long sparked the question: is the resting figure really Moomintroll or Moominpappa?

  • Finland: The label says Made in Finland⭐
  • Thailand: The label says Designed in Finland. Made in Thailand.
