The Opera Moomin mug, released in 2025, is a stunning collector's item initially available exclusively in Japan, with no current details on its international release. The mug holds particular value due to the uncertainty of its availability and production quantities. Accompanying the Opera Moomin mug are two small plates, one featuring Little My and the other featuring Moomintroll. The mugs are designed in Finland and manufactured in Thailand.

This mug commemorates both the 80th anniversary of the Moomins and the 25th anniversary of the Japanese company Scope, which collaborated on its release. The elegant black and yellow color scheme makes the mug particularly striking, ensuring it will become a sought-after addition to any Moomin collection.

Product information

The story of the Opera mug dates back to 2012, when the idea for the mug's design was first conceived. The inspiration came from a 1974 Moomin Opera poster designed by Tove Jansson for the Finnish National Opera.

The opera was directed by Heikki Värtsi, and the beloved performance ran at the National Opera a total of 34 times, delighting both children and adults.
