Moominvalley Moomin mug was in production only in 2017.

When the Moomin Museum opened its doors in Tampere in 2017, Arabia decided to celebrate the event in its own special way. This mug, called “Moomin Mug: Moominvalley,” is perhaps one of Arabia’s most artistic creations. And did you know it is also known as “Akvarell,” especially in Swedish? It’s not just a mug, but a tribute to Tove Jansson’s masterful art.
And that’s not all! On the base you’ll find the familiar “By Arabia” backstamp, plus a small Moomintroll looking back, and the text “Moomin Museum” in three languages: Finnish, Swedish and English.

Initially this rare mug was available only at the Tampere Hall Shop alongside the Moomin Museum, but it was later released to all Arabia retailers. For labeled mugs, a product tag is included and the mug carries a “Special Product 2017” label. If you’re a Moomin mug fan, this might be the missing piece in your collection!

Tove donated her entire art collection to the Tampere Art Museum in 1986, and this mug reflects that gift. The artwork is based on Jansson’s colourful watercolour from Finn Family Moomintroll, which first appeared as the cover of the French edition in 1968. The colour palette is dazzling—27 different shades in total—making the mug truly exceptional.

And that’s not all! On the base you’ll find the familiar “By Arabia” backstamp, plus a small Moomintroll looking back, and the text “Moomin Museum” in Finnish, Swedish and English.

  • Finland: The label says Made in Finland⭐
  • Thailand: The label says Designed in Finland. Made in Thailand.
