Moominpappa Sails, Dark Blue Moomin mug was produced 2014–2022.
Although the label officially says “Moominpappa Deep Blue,” the mug is also known as “Moominpappa Sails” and “Blue Moominpappa.” A matching bowl and plate exist in the same series. The rare edition with the golden MOOMIN75 anniversary stamp is especially valuable. Because the solid dark-blue base shows tiny factory flaws (like black dots) easily, Finmug inspects these very carefully. All mugs were designed in Finland and made in Thailand.
This atmospheric dark-blue mug replaced the classic black Moominpappa mug in 2014 and stayed in production until 2022, when it was succeeded by the new grey Moominpappa mug.

The artwork shows Moominpappa sailing peacefully under a starry sky. Arabia’s longtime designer Tove Slotte selected images from Tove Jansson’s comics #2 “Moomin and Family Life” and #3 “Moomin on the Riviera.” On the reverse, Moominpappa stands with a lantern, underlining his adventurous and reflective character.
