A Moment on the Shore mug is the 2015 summer seasonal mug, and the same series includes a beautifully matching bowl. This mug is especially sought-after because all copies were made in Finland. Mugs with a “Made in Finland” label are famously rare and valuable among collectors—in fact, among the summer mugs, only Midsummer and A Moment on the Shore carry that mention. The base also features Arabia’s year stamp typical of seasonal mugs. Unlike other mugs, the labels are often slightly transparent and the glue on these makes the label look a bit untidy.
Because the background is light and solid, small factory flaws (like tiny black dots) are easy to spot; in Finmug’s inspection this mug seldom reaches the top Supergood grade, which lifts the desirability of flawless examples even further.
Seasonal summer mugs generally appreciate over time, and A Moment on the Shore may rise more than usual thanks to Finnish manufacture and limited availability—an excellent addition to any collection and perfect for sunny summer moments.

The illustration is based on Tove Jansson’s comic Moomin Falls in Love (#9). In this mug, Moomintroll spends a relaxed time in the mountains with his friend, the circus acrobat Emeraldo, where women are not allowed to enter. The sunny mood is captured with turquoise, yellow and green, giving the mug a fresh summer feel: Moomintroll is fishing from a rock while Emeraldo enjoys the sunshine.
