Groke Moomin mug (0.3 L) has been one of Arabia’s most popular classics since 2005. The same series includes a bowl and a plate that has long been discontinued.
Especially valuable are the earliest pieces with a “Made in Finland” label, as well as those with the festive “MOOMIN 75” gold stamp. You’ll find versions with the crown stamp and the newer “By Arabia” stamp. The production country is shown on the label: “Thailand” means made in Thailand, while “Fin/Thai” indicates production either in Finland or Thailand. There are multiple variations here—three types of labels and three base stamps—and on top of that, label-free pieces and Finmug’s three condition classes.
Although great for daily use, the solid dark-blue background can make tiny factory flaws (like black dots) easier to spot, so a completely flawless “Supergood” piece is a bit harder to find.

In 2019, the mug’s popularity skyrocketed when Finland’s national ice hockey team won the World Championship with captain Marko “Mörkö” Anttila. That moment briefly made the Groke mug the most sought-after Moomin mug in Finland. The Groke depicted here is a slightly eerie yet fascinating figure from Moominvalley—fun fact: the Groke is actually female. The atmospheric artwork was composed by Tove Slotte from Tove Jansson’s classics Moominland Midwinter and Moominpappa at Sea. The same character also appears on other mugs such as Night at the Groke and the letter mug “N”.
