Fillyjonk Grey Moomin mug was a long-awaited addition to the Fillyjonk character mugs. The previous beige Fillyjonk mug left production already in 2013, which increased its value and made this grey version a highly desired newcomer. The same series also includes a bowl and a plate. Because the surface is a light, solid colour, small factory flaws—like tiny black dots—are easy to spot, so the mug doesn’t always pass Finmug’s inspection into the Supergood category. The mug is designed in Finland, and mugs with the “Thailand” label are made in Thailand. It uses the newer “By Arabia” backstamp. Priced affordably, it’s great for everyday coffee.

This Fillyjonk mug is especially popular with those who appreciate order yet find humour in the chaos of daily chores. It’s a fine choice for collectors and for anyone who wants a bit more order and good cheer in everyday life.

The illustration for Fillyjonk Grey was selected by Arabia designer Tove Slotte from Tove Jansson’s Moominvalley in November and the comic strips Fuddler’s Courtship and Club Life in Moominvalley. Fillyjonk appears in her element amid housework and cleaning. On the other side, Fillyjonk’s children bring a telegram intended to rekindle her cleaning zeal. In the story, a psychiatrist has previously “cured” Fillyjonk of her obsessive cleaning, with the result that her home became dilapidated. Concerned, Moominmamma therefore sends a telegram announcing a visit from the ladies’ committee. Fillyjonk is known for extreme orderliness and an easily flustered nature.
